The NPD-BC credential stands for Nursing Professional Development-Board Certified. It is a competency-based certification that validates a Registered Nurse's specialized knowledge and skills in nursing professional development. The certification is awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
To qualify, you need a current RN license, at least two years of full-time nursing experience, and 2,000 hours of practice in nursing professional development within the last three years. Alternatively, if you have a bachelor's or higher degree in nursing, you can meet the requirement with 4,000 hours over five years. You also need 30 hours of continuing education in nursing professional development within the last three years.
