In the ASE xEV Electrical Safety Standards – Level ONE, the “Electrically Aware Person (EAP)” designation identifies individuals who may encounter high-voltage (HV) systems but are limited to awareness-level tasks and controls. An EAP must be able to identify typical xEV hazards (such as orange HV cabling, capacitor energy storage, and potential step/arc risk), recognize warning labels and boundary markings, and consistently apply Level 1 procedures like verifying “READY” status is off, observing approach boundaries, using basic PPE when required, and escalating to qualified personnel for anything beyond their scope.
