What is the GRE Exam?

The GRE Exam is a standardized exam widely accepted for admission to master's, doctoral, and professional degree programs (including business and law) worldwide. What is the structure and duration of the GRE General Test?

The current, shorter version of the GRE General Test takes 1 hour and 58 minutes and consists of three scored sections:

  • Analytical Writing (AWA): 1 "Analyze an Issue" task (30 minutes).
  • Verbal Reasoning: Two sections (total of 41 minutes).
  • Quantitative Reasoning: Two sections (total of 47 minutes).

There are no breaks between sections.

The exam assesses three main areas:
